The Hill Farm Curriculum
Our curriculum was designed by us, for us! It is innovative, creative and personalised and has children’s learning at the very heart of every planned experience and learning opportunity. Our school is based on a set of agreed values which are the golden thread that holds our curriculum together.
We recognise that education is more than a ‘National Curriculum’ and there is so much more that we want to offer our children. We prioritised experiences and opportunities that we felt were essential for our children to experience during their time at Hill Farm and wove them into the curriculum and the Hill Farm promise.
The Hill Farm Promise is our commitment to every child that attends our school that we will offer 101 childhood experiences to enhance our curriculum and ensure every child has wonderful memories of their school days.
At its core, the Hill Farm curriculum emphasises the importance of deepening children’s understanding through the provision of increased cognitive challenge and opportunities to apply knowledge. We want our children to become independent, well-rounded individuals who enjoy and take ownership of their learning long after they leave our school.
There are four main curriculum areas (we refer to them as drivers as they help drive our planning and learning process). Within each driver, we have embedded the school’s values as they underpin the learning behaviours we expect from our children.
“The view you adopt for yourself profoundly affects the way you lead your life. It can determine whether you become the person you want to be and whether you accomplish the things you value.” Carol Dweck
