Dear Parents,

I am writing to you to introduce the members of the Local Governing Body. We are a committee which operates to support the Headteacher and staff of Hill Farm to provide the best possible learning experience and environment for your children.

We meet a minimum of every half term and, as you can see, our committee consists of parents, staff and people from the wider community. We share a common aim; to support Hill Farm, to the best of our ability, in its exciting journey to becoming an outstanding school.

If you wish to contact the Local Governing Body, this can be done via the school office or by emailing hfp-enquiries@castlephoenixtrust.org.uk.

Yours sincerely,

Ruth Winters

Chair of the Local Governing Body

Ruth Winters – Chair

I spent my career teaching in a number of Coventry primary schools, the last sixteen years of it as Headteacher of Hearsall Primary School. When I finished work I was keen to continue my links with primary education and was thrilled to be asked to be a member of Hill Farm Governing Body. The school has seen considerable changes over the last few years and has faced some difficult challenges; I am fully committed to supporting Mrs Wilson and her staff team in the excellent work they are doing on a daily basis and in their drive to ensuring that Hill Farm and its pupils, achieve their maximum potential.

Michelle Browne – Staff Governor

I joined Hill Farm as a teacher in September 2013. Previous to this, I had been teaching in Birmingham for 12 years, teaching children throughout Key Stage 1 and 2. I decided to take on the role as school governor to represent the views of the staff. My aim as a governor is to ensure that I can play a part in the continued improvement of Hill Farm so that the children have the best education to set them up for life.

Ian Houghton – Staff Governor

I am the Castle Phoenix Trust Estates and Facilities Manager. I joined the Trust in August 2017. I am responsible for the strategic planning of each schools facilities. I am extremely passionate about ensuring that the students at each of our schools have clean, safe and modern buildings. I expressed an interest in joining the local governing body at Hill Farm Primary School as I wish to give something back to our wonderful staff and students. Hill Farm has a very special family atmosphere and I wish to work with the governing body to ensure that this atmosphere continues.

Sara Bennett – Community Governor

I have lived all my life in Coventry, and after training as a teacher taught in a number of Coventry schools, both primary and secondary. I spent 16 years as a headteacher in two different primary schools. Although retired, I still take a keen interest in education and was delighted to be invited to join the Governing Body of Hill Farm. My personal philosophy of education is that we should enable all children to achieve their best academically, whilst at the same time offering opportunities to promote their personal development and well being. From my visits to Hill Farm and discussions with staff I can see this is part of the school’s ethos and as a governor I will be pleased to support the work of the school to develop this further.

 Ellen Parker – Community Governor

Since qualifying, I have had the pleasure of teaching across primary schools in Coventry, which has given me a broad perspective on primary education. Currently, I am a senior leader focusing on curriculum design and development. My passion lies in making sure educational content is inclusive, relevant, and inspiring for all pupils. I am also part of an Expert Advisory Panel for a national curriculum project with the Chartered College of Teaching. This role allows me to contribute to improving education on a larger scale, something which I deeply care about. I am excited to support Hill Farm and look forward to contributing to the school’s continued growth and success. My goal is to help ensure an environment where every child can achieve their full potential.
