Woodland Curriculum and Progression Map
How can you help your child with Woodland School?
- Spend time outside in parks or gardens.
- Let children chop up vegetables in a safe and supervised environment – we recommend peeling potatoes and carrots in KS1 and beginning to use knives to chop vegetables in KS2.
- Encourage children to learn to tie their shoe laces and experiment with different types of knots – https://www.animatedknots.com/complete-knot-list is a great resource if you want to learn how to tie a variety of knots
- Go for a walk and point out what you see – https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000fjck is a super program to demonstrate how to do this and what sort of questions you can ask.
- Get muddy! Encourage children to make mud pies, get dirty and enjoy themselves when they are playing outside.
- Make a den – this could be inside with blankets and chairs or outside with sticks and trees.
